Kristy Oakley Elswick is our artist. "Murals by Kristy" was established in 1996; however, Kristy's interest in art began as a small child. Her parents always were sure to keep a good supply of crayons, paints and any other medium that would encourage her interest in art. She took art lessons one summer where she became more confident and proficient with design and perspective. As time went on, her creativity found her in beauty school where she could realize yet another talent, but by this time, her growing family was her first concern, and being away from home for long hours was not what she wanted to do for the rest of her life. Her passion for creating through her art was still strong. When she volunteered to paint a mural in the children's wing at her church, she received so much encouragement that Murals by Kristy was born. Her "under the sea" mural at her local YMCA drew much attention, as one would expect a scene the size of an Olympic pool! Soon, many people were requesting these scenes in their children's rooms. Little girls love the picket fence decked with vines and flowers. Little boys love cars, motorcycles and anything that moves! Most anything you can dream, Kristy can paint for you. From time to time, you will see that her art continues on to enhance the furniture in the client's rooms. Most recently, her mom was interested in installing cobblestone onto a porch and steps, when Kristy mentioned painting a faux cobblestone design finish instead...complete with ivy, salamanders and other garden creatures. The reality is startling! Kristy's mural business continues to be a fun venture with many clients who continue to pass her name along as a fair and reasonably priced artist.
